“I like creative problem solving and sort of index the rest of my career on that.”

Katelyn Sweeney is an aerospace engineer with a special interest in bioengineering. She is currently working on her MBA.

In our conversation on October 16th, 2022, she recalled how her best learning always came when it coincided with real-world problems. After receiving her undergraduate degree at MIT, she worked on multiple startups which had tremendous promise but rocky launches. From these experiences she realized that no matter how impressive a technology and solution may seem, the ability to communicate its value as a business is a make-or-break skill. With this in mind, she is pursuing her Master’s degree in engineering science and an MBA at Harvard.

Katelyn concluded the conversation with some advice to some current high school BioBuilder students about how to approach brainstorming and then confidence as they design amazing projects.
