Adrienne is Director of Platform Partnerships at Checkerspot
On April 29th 2022, Adrienne McKee participated in office hours for BioBuilder’s Idea Accelerator. She traced her interest in molecular biology back to a lab class she took senior year at Wellesley College. She followed up with a graduate degree at Harvard University in Boston and then a post-doc in CA at UC-Berkeley, where she started “using microbes to make a host of different things.”
The ability to program biology to make useful products led her to Checkerspot, a company that uses microalgae to convert sugars into fats. She works as a liaison between their business development teams and the Research and Development teams – or what she called “the grout,” the plaster that holds different tiles together.
