Assistant professor in chemical engineering at Rose-Hulman, Dr. Reizman began her engineering career at Whirlpool, then returned to academia to get her PhD at MIT. Her research group is made up of undergrads using synthetic biology to sense dissolved oxygen levels in fermentation tanks.
In our conversation on December 15th, 2020, Dr. Reizman discusses her time growing up on rural farm, how she gained hands-on engineering experience from high school summer camps and her time working with enzymes at Whirlpool, what it’s like working at an undergraduate engineering institution, and the support system she builds so students feel ready to take risks in their education.
