Dr. Jason Boock is a professor in the Chemical Engineering department at Miami University in Ohio
In our conversation on March 26th, 2021, we talked about his mentorship of BioBuilderClub teams who are knocking it out of the park. He described how his own high school research project experiences helped shape his career, including his dedication to discovery science and engineering as well as how much he values effective communication of research results.
These notions led him through a productive undergraduate career at Hopkins, a graduate program at Cornell and a post-doc at MIT. His current department of Chemical, Paper, and Biomedical Engineering takes cross disciplinary approaches to many global challenges.
His own lab develops genetic tools to study enzymes for bioremediation and bioenergy.
